The final four acts for NorthSide
It is always both unfortunate and disappointing when a band has to cancel an appearance. Therefore, it is extra nice when it becomes possible to get a new date in the books with the band, which has happened this year with first Bloc Party and now The Temper Trap.
The Australian quartet should have visited NorthSide in 2012, but was unfortunately forced to cancel their entire European tour that year. But now the band is finally getting ready to release new material and is ready to return to Denmark.
The Temper Trap broke through in 2009 with the excellent single “Sweet Disposition”, which beautifully blends a great guitar riff with hypnotic vocals on a hit that has an unusually captivating build-up. The band’s ability to write compelling songs continued on their second album from 2012, and as can be heard on the band’s new single “Thick as Thieves” the streak keeps going on the upcoming album. So we are looking forward immensely to finally get a visit from The Temper Trap at NorthSide.

This last round of announcements for NorthSide also includes the Swedish hardcore legends Refused. The band released a series of groundbreaking albums in the 90s, and especially “The Shape of Punk To Come” (1998) stands as one of the genre’s most important releases. The band’s legendary status was evident as they reunited in 2012 after 14-year break and successfully played at festivals such as Coachella and Primavera, and with the new album “Freedom” in tow they are now also ready to conquer NorthSide.

The last two acts on the poster is the new British talent Frances, who has already been on both the BBC’s Sound of 2016 list and was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award at the Brit Awards, and the Scottish band Twin Atlantic, whose melodic rock has gotten them tours with Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters and first place on the domestic album chart and the UK Rock Chart.
Thus, there are now 41 acts on this year’s poster, which offers everything from icons like Iggy Pop and Duran Duran and electronic heavyweights The Chemical Brothers and Jamie xx to critically acclaimed acts like Beach House, Sigur Rós, and Beck plus the Danish megastars Lukas Graham. All in all it’s a wonderful mix of indie, electronica, rock, pop, hip hop, and everything in between, which combined represents an eclectic mix of exceptional quality.
