The British icon is added to the line-up alongside Mike D from Beastie Boys, Future Islands, and more

Even though the organizers are currently hard at work planning the ninth edition of NorthSide and the sale of tickets is moving faster than in previous years, from the outside it would seem that things have been quiet on the NorthSide front since the announcement of Beck and Diplo in December of last year. But now something is happening again with the addition of six very different acts. This announcement will be the last one before the presentation of the final line-up at the end of this month.

The voice of Oasis released his first solo album in his own name last year and with “As You Were” Liam Gallagher underscored his status as one of the most charismatic and remarkable singers of the last 25 years. After eighteen years as the front man in the extremely popular band Oasis, where his voice and persona personified the Britpop wave, he formed the band Beady Eye, which released two records. But it is with the decision to finally appear as a solo artist that the fascination of Liam Gallagher has returned to peak level Oasis-status.
Unsurprisingly, the audience in his home country is ecstatic about Liam Gallagher’s return to his old form, and as expected, “As You Were” went to the top of the British album chart. But the biggest success so far has come through the concerts. All tickets for his UK tour were sold out in two hours, not only due to his icon status and the strong solo album, but also because the charismatic singer played a lot of Oasis classics at last year’s festival shows. So naturally the possibility of hearing “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”, “Morning Glory”, “Some Might Say”, “Supersonic”, “Cigarettes & Alcohol”, “Live Forever”, and “Wonderwall” sent the fans into a frenzy. This is fully understandable and you can now look forward to also hearing some of the greatest English classics from the last 25 years, when Liam Gallagher plays NorthSide.
Liam Gallagher will play Friday June 8th at NorthSide 2018

Three white guys and a heavy metal producer created the album “License to Ill” in 1986, which surprisingly became the best-selling hip-hop album of the 80s and made Beastie Boys superstars. Because of their success, Mike D now has legend status in hip-hop circles, and tracks like “Intergalactic”, “Sabotage”, “Body Movin”, “No Sleep to Brooklyn”, and “(You Gotta Fight) for Your Right (To Party!)” made sure that the trio also influenced a much wider music culture. The impact of this could be seen in 2012, when Beastie Boys as the only third rap group ever joined the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. However, not a lot has been heard from Mike D since the dissolution of Beastie Boys with the exception of a few gigs at American festivals in the last two years. But now Mike D is ready to go on a major European tour, which will include a visit to Aarhus, where he will arrive armed with both his MC skills and his biggest hits.
Mike D will play Thursday June 7th at NorthSide 2018

In addition to the two very impressive solo artists, NorthSide has also added Future Islands, Mashrou’ Leila, Richie Hawtin CLOSE, and Susanne Sundfør to the line-up today.
