From the early beginnings in London’s underground club scene, to sold-out scenes the world over, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory aka. Maribou State have established themselves as one of the best and most praised electronic acts in the last decade.
Their careers skyrocketed in the early 2010s, where the duo created their very own sound – a hypnotic mix of house, downtempo ambient and indie pop. Inspired by British club music, vintage soul and atmospheric samples, they’ve come up with a soundscape that is both organic and electronic.
The debut record Portraits, from 2015, featuring standout tracks like “Midas” and “Steal”, was the big breakthrough that rocketed Maribou State into the international music scene. Not but three years later, the duo released Kingdoms in Colour. With hits like “Feel Good”, featuring Khruangbin, they created a sound for an entire generation of listeners who sought something more nuanced than traditional club music.
With their third record slated to hit the stores on Jan 31st, 2025, Maribou State are ready to once again challenge what electronic music can be. The first four singles have already made their way to streaming platforms, and with tracks like “Otherside” and “Blackoak”, it’s looking like they will once again raise the bar for electronic music on a global scale.
