More than 55 European festivals and music organisations have united behind the campaign Take a Stand, which promotes Equality, Tolerance and Civil Engagement

NorthSide has been a member of the European festival organisation Yourope since 2011, and NorthSide has supported the campaign Take a Stand, since it was presented at a members meeting at Eurosonic in January month.

The goal of Take a Stand is to take a stand and promote cohesion and understanding across Europe at a time when the world seems more divided and turbulent than ever before.

The credo of Take a Stand:
It‘s time to take a stand for Europe, and indeed for the whole world. To create a movement encouraging social cohesion in our society, promoting awareness and tolerance for all cultures, genders, races, religions, sexual orientations, colours and origins. To motivate people to participate in politics and social activities, speaking up for peaceful dialogue, humanism, tolerance and mutual understanding, to make the world a better place for every single individual and for all of us.

– Festivals gather thousands of people across gender, political point of view, religion, sexuality, and anything else that some could point to as a source of conflict. In our industry, we can instead see that people meet on an equal footing and have good experiences no matter where they come from or who they vote for. If we with this campaign can help signal that everyone is welcome and that everyone should be treated with respect then this is obviously something we would always feel obliged to do.

That comes from spokesman for NorthSide, John Fogde, who emphasises that the goal of Take a Stand is nothing new at NorthSide, but the campaign is instead primarily a vocalisation of the mindset the festival has always had. The audience will meet Take a Stand on the festival’s online platforms, the big screens by the scenes, and in the official app, and NorthSide will collaborate with the other European festivals on other initiatives to further promote the campaign.

The campaign is supported by European festivals such as Sziget, Melt, Exit and by: Alarm as well as the Danish festivals NorthSide, Tinderbox, and Roskilde Festival.
