C.V. Jørgensen confirmed for NorthSide

The highly regarded songwriter is joined by two of the country’s most popular groups – Nik & Jay and Dizzy Mizz Lizzy

The first three round of announcements for NorthSide 2018 have focused on major international acts, which has placed acts like Björk, Queens of the Stone Age, and The National on the poster. However, this time we look towards the domestic music scene, which means that today’s announcement secures three top shelf Danish acts for next year’s line-up.

C.V. Jørgensen visited Aarhus Festuge in 2009 an received a hero’s welcome of massive proportions, thus launching a comeback after a seven-year absence. So not surprisingly, his subsequent tour was received with joy as it was the first time in eight years he took a trip around the country. After the tour, however, the highly regarded songwriter slid back into anonymity. But fortunately, now C.V. Jørgensen is back after a new eight-year break and is ready to give new concerts. The songwriter behind ”Det si’r sig selv”, ”Sæsonen er slut”, ”Det ganske lille band” and ”Costa del Sol” is in a class by himself, and to many he is the greatest of the great. It is therefore an incredible pleasure to invite C.V. Jørgensen to play NorthSide 2018.

Nik & Jay has since 2002 sold more than 400,000 albums and can present a total sale including their many hit singles of more than 1,000,000 discs, which is a dizzying figure in this country. Songs like ”Boing!”, ”Hot”, ”Pop-Pop”, ”Lækker” and many others have been fixtures at thousands of parties over the past fifteen years, and at their concerts everything is fair game in an attempt to get even the people on the back rows on their toes. GAFFA gave five stars when they played Odeon in Odense earlier in the year and wrote about Nik & Jay that they have long proved “that they deserve a space among the stars, under the stars, at colourful festival stages around Denmark”. That will happen for the first time at NorthSide next year, where Nik & Jay will surely deliver a show unlike anything previously see at the festival in Aarhus.

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy released their first album in twenty years last year, which was duly celebrated for six hours with a special edition of P6 BEAT Love Dizzy Mizz Lizzy and a first place on the Danish album chart. The album came a year after the trio had played for about half a million Danes on a totally sold out indoor tour and a number of major festival concerts. This year the band has only played a single Danish arena show, but luckily the band is ready for another tour in 2018, which will offer a reunion with the band t NorthSide, where they have not been on the poster since 2015.
