With brutal lyrics and a strong musical presence, the Aarhus-based Pater have established themselves as an intense live act. Pater’s music is rooted in Stine Stengaard’s songs about rigid ideals, gender, and relationships. It is in the meeting between raw lyrics and musical immediacy that Pater’s sound emerges.

Among the six members are two pairs of siblings and three collective housemates. That sense of closeness shines through in an intense live experience, where brass, samples, and synths merge into expressions of anger, vulnerability, and tender care.

Pater’s music is a tribute to those of us who struggle within the norms we impose on ourselves and each other. The songs carry a frustration with the unspoken rules that we all help maintain.
