The self-proclaimed Mama Africa, Yemi Alade, is unquestionably one of the biggest voices within the global Afropop scene right now. And she’s been so for years.

Singing in both Igbo, Yoruba, French, Pidgin, Swahili, Portuguese, and English, Yemi Alade hasn’t just taken listeners on the African continent by storm but built up a fanbase of 25 million across the globe.

Yemi Alade rose to fame with her 2014 debut record King of Queens with the single and radio hit “Johnny” on the track list. The global hit made Yemi Alade the second Nigerian artist ever to reach 100 million plays of a single video on YouTube. With the video for ”Oh My Gosh” featuring rapper Rick Ross, Alade was later the first female artist from Africa to reach 1 million views in just 24 hours.

Yemi Alade has shared the stage with the likes of WizKid and Mary J. Blige and featured on both “MY POWER” and “DON’T JEALOUS ME” from Beyoncé’s 2019-record The Lion King: The Gift.

In December 2022, she released her seventh album African Baddie which has already racked up millions of streams with tracks like “Baddie”, “Bubble It” feat. Spice and “Begging”.

She’s known for being a brilliant live performer and has already toured the world. However, she hasn’t brought her live show to Denmark yet so it’s with great pleasure that we’re finally bringing Mama Africa to Denmark, when Yemi Alade plays at NorthSide!

Yemi Alade will play Saturday June 3 at NorthSide 2023.
