Copenhagen-based artist SCHAARUP has worked as a DJ and producer for almost a decade and has experimented with everything from house and techno to deephouse indie dance, and afrohouse – all with a melodic focus and inspiration from the Berlin underground scene.
When SCHAARUP plays live, she tells stories through her rather dark sound topped by a magical vocal and spellbinding rhythms. She invites her listeners to feel while their feet start to move.
Although SCHAARUP’s big passion lies within DJing, she’s also got a great sense of producing and has made remixes for the likes of Danish artists Lucy Love, Mendoza, Penny Police and Lydmor.
SCHAARUP has great live experience from both clubs, bars, festivals, and big private events, and for long, she’s been a returning DJ at the iconic Copenhagen club Culture Box. Besides from Denmark, she’s played in countries such as Germany, Sweden, and Norway and shared lineup with acts like Peggy Gou, Magit Cacoon, Djuma Soundsystem, Stimming, Nastia, Marius Lehnert and Rey&Kjavik.
Furthermore, the productive artist has created her own party concept, HOUSEFRAU, in which she hires house and techno female DJs from all over Europe to play at venues and night clubs and showcase some of the great talent that might not be represented otherwise.
SCHAARUP will play Friday June 2 at NorthSide 2023.
