Aysay fuses the Nordics and the Middle East
The Danish-Turkish-Kurdish trio Aysay delivers electronic productions so seamlessly intertwined with traditional Kurdish instruments that it’s impossible to imagine them apart.
Crafting a Kurdish indie-pop universe, Aysay blends Middle Eastern musical tradition into a refreshingly unique mix of groovy rhythms and catchy beats—making it absolutely impossible to stand still. Their signature sound is shaped by Aske Bendixen, Carl Hosbond, and lead singer Luna Ersahin, who, with roots in both Denmark and Turkey, sings in both languages.
Their critically acclaimed debut album “Su Akar” (2021) earned them three awards at the Danish Music Awards in 2022. Currently, Aysay is touring Canada with songs from their latest album, “KÖY”, which won Danish Roots Release of the Year in 2024.
Last year, they released their latest single, “Tu Bi Xer Hati”, in collaboration with Nature, with royalties supporting our planet’s ecosystem.
Even if most listeners don’t understand every word of their lyrics, Aysay’s music is inherently inclusive, fulfilling their mission of bridging cultures. Lead singer Luna Ersahin’s crystal-clear vocals also featured on Tobias Rahim’s 2022 hit “Kurder i København”, where she sang in Kurdish.
Aysay’s musical celebration of diversity has made them a standout name on stages worldwide. No matter what the forecast for NS25 says, Aysay will bring sun-soaked sounds and warmth when they fill Eskelunden with chain-dancing this summer.
